Licensing FAQ’s

When you license an artwork from us, we keep all rights to the artwork including ownership and copyrights of the artwork(s) and give you permission to reproduce, and print and sell them on your products. You’ll need to tell us what types of products will be sold and we’ll have to approve of each of these. If you want to offer additional products, let us know first and we must approve this in writing.

Most of the artwork we have available for licensing is already licensed with a number of bookish shops so the majority of the time, your license will have to be non-exclusive.

Some of the artwork that is available for licensing is also required to be licensed with the author whose books inspired the art (eg. Sarah J Maas). Please ensure you go through the proper channels with the authors to gain permission to sell the artworks as well.

Licensing Options

We offer exclusive and non-exclusive licensing options to merchandise artwork under two categories:

  • Time Based License - For terms of 3, 6 or 12 months with a cap of 500,000 units

  • Per Unit License - For quantities between 100 & 10,000 units with a term of 2 years

A per unit license ends when you’ve sold all the units you’ve purchased OR after 2 years (whichever comes first)

A Time Based license ends when you’ve sold 500,000 items OR after the time period you selected (whichever comes first)

Which Option Should I Choose?

A per unit license is a good option for you if you are doing a set number of products. It allows you to buy the rights to only what you need and gives you a good amount of time to sell your products (2 years)

A time based license generally costs more than a per unit license. This is a good option for you if you are planning to sell your products for a set amount of time and aren’t sure how many you want to sell or, if you expect to sell a lot of products in a short amount of time.

Both options can be renewed for an additional fee, so if you sell all your units or your time is up and you want to keep selling you just need to get in touch to request a renewal.

If you have any questions or need help choosing the best option for you, feel free to send me a message and I’d be happy to help!
